Our Story
Hi, I’m Cristina! As Founder of Pearls & Pelicans, I’m also a New Orleans-based OB/GYN sonographer, connecting with families in pregnancy ultrasounds at Sweet Pea 3D/4D Ultrasound Nola and Nola Diagnostic Ultrasound.
The inspiration behind Pearls and Pelicans came during an ultrasound session at Sweet Pea, with a first-time dad-to-be. Glancing over our selection of baby gifts, he suggested we carry bamboo baby clothing.
Intrigued, I began sourcing bamboo products for my clients and quickly fell in love with the fabric’s softness, practicality, and thoughtful features like zippers and cuffs for tiny hands and feet.
But as I explored the options on the market, I realized none of the designs felt quite right. I envisioned something unique—patterns that truly reflected the vibrant, joyful energy of New Orleans, and something families could connect with on a deeper level.
This led to the start of Pearls & Pelicans: baby bamboo clothes that combine comfort with the spirit of New Orleans, designed with love for families across the United States.
